That bottom line actually reminds how in, at least the Powhatan tribes, to adopt a person into the tribe, basically someone would throw themself over that person, sort promising protection and taking responsibility for them, which is what is believed to have happened with the real John Smith when he wrote in his journal that Pocahontas had saved him from being killed. Old customs are certainly interesting…. ^^
